Homework

The purpose of homework is to:

· Enable pupils to consolidate and reinforce skills and understanding, particularly in literacy and numeracy

· Extend school learning, for example through additional reading and research

· Develop confidence and self discipline for independent study

· Develop a partnership approach to learning between family and school as exemplified in the home/school agreement

Put the school mission of “Promoting excellence for all by emphasising the development of the individual” into practice.

Homework is not exclusively about completing written tasks. It includes reading for a variety of purposes, learning spellings and times tables, researching and finding information and talking to family members about what is being learnt at school.
