Roydon School Prospectus

Assessment

Children are assessed during their first term at school in order to provide a baseline from which to calculate their progress in later years. There are statutory assessments in Year 2 (Key Stage 1 SATs) and in Year 6 (Key Stage 2 SATs). Other year groups are assessed using QCA end of year tests, and teachers assess children’s achievement of key learning objectives throughout the year. Progress targets and curriculum learning targets are set for children and regularly reviewed with parents. The school results for the academic year 2006/07 were as follows:

As a small school, we understand that results fluctuate from year to year, depending upon the individuals in each class.  One child represents 4% in a small school.  Generally, Roydon School achieves results above LEA and national averages.  Our aim is to ensure that all children make the maximum progress according to their ability.
