Cedar Lodge
officially opened
We celebrated the completion of our lovely new building with
a celebratory event on Friday October 5th. Bill Rammell MP
was our guest of honour, and marked the occasion by cutting a ribbon
and unveiling a commemorative plaque donated by the school Governors.
The new building, called Cedar Lodge, replaces ‘temporary’ classrooms
that had been in place for many years. In their place we have gained
two new classrooms, a resources room and a staff room, as well as
bright new children’s toilets. The classrooms are equipped with
electronic whiteboards and provide a completely up to date learning
environment for the children.
The new building cost £700,000. Essex County Council paid for the
majority of the costs, with the school contributing £50,000 from its
own funds.
The opening ceremony was attended by more than forty friends
and supporters of the school, as well as staff, parents and pupils of
Year 5. Children from Year 5 gave a fantastic samba drumming
performance, leading a procession into the new building.
Now we’ll start trying to get funds to replace the remaining
‘temporary’ classrooms… |
