Essex Maths Quiz final – Our maths quiz team journeyed to Colchester on Tuesday for the County Final of the maths quiz.  We ended up fifth out of nine schools, behind two teams drawn for first and two drawn for second;  only five points from the lead.  Well done to Timmy, George, Tony and Mia, who did extremely well to win bronze medals!  Of the 72 original competing schools, our score was fifth highest.  A wonderful achievement!

Exciting Happenings for Reception – On Wednesday, Reception and Year 1 held a themed Pirate Day.  There was much fun to be had as members of staff were kidnapped for ransom and made to walk the plank, gold and jewels were looted, and sea battles were fought in the playground!

Reports – Your child should have been given their report to bring home today.  Please ensure that you return the parent comment slip so that we can be sure you have received the report.

Sports – Mrs Smyth reports that our team came second in the field events at the District Sports, and fourth in the track.  Sadly the athletics festival had to be cut short due to torrential rain, but some of our children did get the chance to compete and it was much enjoyed until rain stopped play.

Swine Flu update - We have been advised that we should continue to be vigilant with handwashing, cleaning door handles, light switches and hard surfaces.  Children should use tissues if they cough or sneeze, and place them in the special red bags in each room.  Finally, if your child does develop flu, please keep them at home.  Infection does spread rapidly amongst school children, but it appears that symptoms are fairly mild.

EXTRAVAGANZA –Don’t forget to come along and support the Extravaganza on Sunday at 1.00!  Lots to do and fun for all.

Are you up to date?
